Turkish newspaper Sabah report Christian Luyindama’s injury in November has cost Galatasaray badly because of his proposed move to Aston Villa.

The DR Congo defender injured his knee whilst playing for his country and as a result he’s spent five months on the sidelines.

Sabah claim Aston Villa were preparing to make a €14m bid to sign Luyindama in January, but after the 25 year old was ruled out they decided they would no longer pursue him.

It’s not known if Villa will come back in for him this summer.

Sabah say his injury has proved to be costly for Galatasaray, who had to change their plans in the January transfer window.

Luyindama is now back in full training with Galatasaray and has continued to be linked with a move to Premier League, with Everton and Wolves said to be interested in him ahead of the summer window.

His contract at the Turk Telekom Arena will expire at the end of June 2022.
