Ligue 1 club Angers SCO had a poor start to the season, as they lost their opening three games of the campaign, but have bounced back with three consecutive wins.

French newspaper L’Equipe believe one of the reasons for a disastrous start to the campaign was because of the interest from others clubs in key players of the Ligue 1 club.

Angers captain Cheikh N’Doye, who scored and assisted in their last game against SM Caen, was attracting interest from Middlesbrough, who approached the Ligue 1 club over the possibility of a transfer, but nothing really materialised in the end.

Romain Thomas, who is also a crucial player for Angers, was also denied the opportunity to sign for West Bromwich Albion on August 30th. The French club believed it was too late in the window to grant a move to a player so important to the club.

L’Equipe believe that both players have now moved on from their collapsed transfers to the Premier League, and have helped the club to important wins in the last three games.

Angers SCO finished in an impressive ninth position last season, and much is expected from them this season as well.

It would be no surprise if Middlesbrough and West Brom reignite their interest in the players come January, Angers will hope it doesn’t harm the club’s form.
