Royale Union Saint-Gilloise star Deniz Undav’s move to Brighton & Hove Albion is ‘taking concrete shape’, according to Sky Deutschland.

The former Werder Bremen academy graduate joined the Jupiler Pro League side in 2020 and has starred this season, scoring 19 goals and registering 10 assists from 26 matches in all competitions.

It’s claimed the operation to take the forward to The Amex is not yet closed, but if it takes shape, he will sign a ‘long-term’ contract with the Seagulls.

That’s about the only details provided by Sky Deutschland about the 25-year-old, who has a contract with the Belgian club until 2023. Union Saint-Gilloise are owned by Tony Bloom, who also own the Premier League side.

Over at DeichStube, they say the German has ‘caused a sensation’ due to his impressive scoring abilities and it has attracted interest from other clubs, including VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Undav will not return to Germany, as reported in the Belgian media, and instead, sign a ‘long-term contract’ with Graham Potter’s side.

Although he is set to join Brighton, the attacker will not represent them immediately as the Seagulls will loan him back to Union Saint-Gilloise until the end of the season, so that Undav can help them win the title this campaign.
