Leeds United paid a club record fee to sign Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim in January.

Le Télégramme explain the Whites paid €30m plus €10m in bonuses for the striker.

The 20-year-old has made eight appearances, which includes three starts, and is yet to score for Leeds.

Even though the France U21 international is yet to shine for Javi Gracia’s side, his move to Elland Road will ‘pay off big’ for his former clubs, AS Ménimur and Vannes OC.

Rutter spent seven years at Ménimur between 2007 and 2014, before moving to Vannes. He spent three seasons with the latter and then joined Rennes’ academy in 2017. The former two are aware of the money they are entitled to receive through FIFA’s solidarity payments.

“I prefer to remain discreet, because this kind of thing is always misinterpreted. All I can say is that this money will be reinvested immediately in the purchase of equipment, including a minibus,” Vannes president Daniel Boraud said.

According to Le Télégramme, Ménimur and Vannes will collect €300,000 from Rutter’s move to Leeds, out of which Ménimur should receive €75,000 and the remaining will go to the latter.

Vannes have received payments in the past but none of the previous delas had brought such a sum, including €180,000 earned through Didier Drogba’s move from Marseille to Chelsea in 2004.
