A few hours ago, we relayed a claim from France Football that Monaco were working towards bringing in Islam Slimani from Leicester City.
There was no indication as to what the deal entailed, but the principality side were ‘optimistic’ they could get a deal done for the striker.
The player isn’t in Brendan Rodgers’ plans going forward this season, and while Leicester would ideally prefer to be rid of the Algeria international for good, that’s not what’s on offer.
The local newspaper explain the move could even be completed as early as this evening, with the player already undergoing his medical ahead of the transfer.
Since joining Leicester from Sporting CP for £27m back in 2016, the 31-year-old has only made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and assisting teammates seven times.
The rest of his time was spent out on loan, first at Newcastle and then Fenerbahce in Turkey.
