Pressure is building on Antoine Griezmann in the Spanish media, and he’s taking a whole lot of blame for Atletico Madrid’s difficult season so far.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way.

Griezmann should have moved to Manchester United and joined up with his pal Paul Pogba, but Atletico failing to get their transfer ban reduced saw the Frenchman agree to stay for a further season.

It’s not really worked out, and a few days after El Confidencial explained fans haven’t forgiven Griezmann for making his Manchester United desire very public last summer, Marca have got in on the act.

Listing reasons why Atletico have struggled, Griezmann is once again paramount, with the Spanish newspaper explaining he’s been non existent when needed.

Since his ‘bizarre episode’ with Manchester United, the Atletico star hasn’t been right, believe Marca.

Griezmann is missing ‘physically and mentally’, which makes it clear there’s a belief, touched upon by El Confidencial too, that after having his head turned by Jose Mourinho’s advances, the footballer hasn’t got himself together.

He lacks the ‘hunger’ still present in Diego Simeone, according to the claims, but then that could be said of several of Atletico’s under-performing team.
