Ever since Ousmane Dembele arrived at Barcelona he’s endured an uneasy relationship with the Spanish media. There’s been many claims about his private life, even down to alleged diet issues, with the club setting up a private chef for him.
Injuries have also hampered his progress, and Spain’s Cuatro reports ‘he does not have the support of fans’ and some teammates have been concerned about his ‘dubious commitment’ to the team.
This largely seems to stem from a disappointment that Dembele hasn’t had the impact expected, given the fee paid to Borussia Dortmund. Cuatro says there’s now also annoyance about ‘gestures of affection’ towards Liverpool.
According to the report, Dembele has reacted favourably when Liverpool fans have asked him to move to Anfield, presumably via messages on social media.
From Liverpool’s perspective it’s claimed that what started as rumours has been ‘getting serious’ in recent days, with the Reds considering taking the Frenchman on loan with a purchase option.
That could be a good way for the 23 year old to find his best football again, under the protective arm of Jurgen Klopp. Juventus are also credited with interest.
