The father and agent of the Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes has told a Portuguese newspaper he can’t deny Barcelona are interested in the player.

Recent reports from England have said sources close to the player told them the Catalan club would be scouting the 16-year-old, who’s been impressing for both club and country.

CapturarGil Gomes, who’s known in Portugal for his footballer career, spoke to A Bola for their Wednesday edition, and was asked about Barça’s interest in his son.

He didn’t want to give many details about it, but made it clear that there are clubs making approaches: “The important thing is that Angel continues to have all this pleasure in playing football.

“I don’t deny that many clubs ask me about him, but that’s what he always says… the next dream is to play for Manchester United’s first team, a club where he has been growing.”

The midfielder is considered to be one of Manchester United’s biggest prospects, having played his first game for the U18 squad at the age of 14.

Gil Gomes, on the other hand, didn’t have a brilliant career, but an impressive start as well. He was a U20 World Champion for Portugal in 1991, alongside the likes of Figo and Rui Costa.

He ended his career in England, after playing for clubs such as Hendon Town FC, Salford, and Hyde United. That’s where he probably got closer to the local press.
