France Football this week have a feature on several big France related transfers of the summer, and one of the biggest sagas is, of course, Nabil Fekir to Liverpool.
Launched by the French media, the transfer information clearly had a lot in it and at one stage it felt like just a case of waiting for the announcement.
Then everything fell to pieces and Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas publicly announced talks had been called off and, as it stood, Fekir wouldn’t be going anywhere.
Since then there’s been hints here and there that the move can be revived, with the general thought being things could progress once France are knocked out of, or win, the World Cup.
France Football make it clear that Fekir wants a move and his entourage are ‘open for talks’. He hasn’t given up his desire to leave Lyon this summer, even if a stay is still possible.
The French magazine also claims the player’s entourage has been hoping for a good performance at the World Cup to ‘make Liverpool’s mouth water’ over a transfer or attract other clubs.
Fekir has made substitute appearances in all of France’s group games but hasn’t been able to make any magic happen yet.
