Sunday saw claims come from Spain of Manchester United interest in Espanyol’s Raul de Tomas.

The 27-year-old has a contract with the Spanish club which lasts until June 2026, but this summer he’s been the subject of repeat transfer rumours. Last season he managed to score 17 goals and add three assists in 36 matches for Espanyol, and was a key player for the club.

That saw him attract interest from elsewhere and there’s been an uneasiness around his current situation and whether he’s going to move before the window closes at the end of this month.

La Grada, a newspaper which focuses solely on Espanyol, has picked up the Manchester United claims and moved to dismiss them.

According to their report, sources from the player’s camp have ‘denied’ interest from the Red Devils. La Grada have also spoken to sources at Espanyol, who told them they have no knowledge of any interest from Erik ten Hag’s side.

As they see it, this is just one more of the rumours circulating around De Tomas this summer, without anything materialising from them.
