Manchester City have set their sights on Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi to strengthen their midfield.
Rodri’s absence due to a serious injury has seen the Citizens linked to a few midfielders.
Cope cover Manchester City’s interest in Zubimendi and state his €60m release clause is ‘not an obstacle’ for interested parties like the Premier League winners.
They invited several journalists to analyse the situation around the Spain international.
Cope Gipuzkoa head of football Marco Antonio Sande claims the 26-year-old will receive offers in the winter market. According to him, Pep Guardiola’s side could consider dealing only with the player.
“Those clubs that are considering signing Zubimendi are not going to deal with Real, they are going to deal directly with the player,” he said.
Liverpool wanted to sign La Real star in the summer window, but he turned them down.
Journalist Ander Iturralde states the Reds and Manchester City need a player with the Spaniard’s profile. He won’t rule out an approach from the English champions in January.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they came to sign him in the winter market,” Iturralde explained.
Iturralde believes the La Liga side would find it difficult to hold on to the player for long.
According to journalist Giovanni Batista, Manchester City’s interest in Zubimendi won’t be ‘diluted easily’. This could be a concern for Real Sociedad.
“Manchester City are going to give us a long and hard winter,” he added.
