Atlético Madrid midfielder Saul’s agents are ‘pushing’ for a move to Chelsea, but the Spanish club are standing firm on the player.

That’s according to Deportes Cuatro, who say Atlético have made it clear that either a big offer arrives or they will not allow the Spaniard to leave.

Saul has been heavily linked with a move for several months, having fallen down the pecking order under Diego Simeone last season, something he thinks cost him a place in Spain’s squad for Euro 2020.

The Premier League has long been his most likely destination, and Chelsea have reportedly been keen for some time.

It has been suggested they could make a move today, but as yet, there has been no indication that will happen.

And it seems it won’t unless they make a ‘big offer’, with DC reporting that Atlético are firm on their stance, either they receive a big fee, or they don’t move.

That is despite Saul’s entourage ‘pushing’ for him to leave for Chelsea.

Thus, it’s in the Blues’ hands to make this one happen, with Roman Abramovich needing to open his chequebook once again if Thomas Tuchel is to get the midfielder.
