It doesn’t matter if Gabriel Jesus ended up signing for Manchester City, his agent still loves talking to the Italian media.

He exclusively spoke to Calcio Mercato on Wednesday, and once again explained the end of negotiations which led the player to the Premier League club.

“I can say that Manchester City wanted Gabriel very much. Inter have had some conversations with Palmeiras, but we never went through with it.

“I don’t know if between the two clubs the dialogue was developed; the fact is that Gabriel was contacted by Guardiola and he understood what he wanted was Manchester City.”

The agent said Jesus is getting ready for the Manchester City challenge, but he needs to be focused on his Brazilian club first. Asked if the player is getting ready to play in the Premier League, he said: “Yes, but calmly. There is a season to be completed at Palmeiras, then there will be time for English football and this new experience. ”

Gabriel Jesus is currently out with the national team, where he’s expected to start against Bolivia and Venezuela for the World Cup Qualifiers.

Then he returns to Palmeiras, who are currently on top of the Brazilian League table and in the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals.

The footballer has faced some criticism in Brazil for a perceived drop in form since singing for Manchester City, on the other hand there have been suggestions that Palmeiras haven’t been giving him enough rest, because his long term fitness is no longer their concern.
