On June 11th, Fussball Transfers reported Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are ‘lurking’ for Ivan Perišić.

According to FcInterNews, the Inter Milan owned player’s agent has held talks with Spurs and an unknown English club.

The 31-year-old is on loan at Bayern Munich and they retain an option to make his transfer permanent for €20m. Due to the excellent relation between two clubs, Inter are ready to offer a discount of €5m.

He is a ‘very valuable’ player for Bayern and despite the reports of Manchester City star Leroy Sané’s arrival at the club, Hans-Dieter Flick’s side intend to retain Perišić.

It’s claimed the Bundesliga club’s idea is to extend the Croatian’s loan spell for another season. This hasn’t pleased Inter.

Therefore, Bayern have made it clear they would offer €10m, but it’s not meeting the expectations of Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio. The situation has seen the wideman’s representative start contacts with clubs in England.

Spurs manager José Mourinho wanted Perišić at Manchester United, but his former club couldn’t complete his signing.

Tottenham’s chance of landing the Inter owned winger depends on whether or not they will qualify for the next season’s European competitions.

Should they fail, the north London club could decide against spending a lot in the market as a remedy for inevitable losses caused by the Cobvid-19 crisis. The report adds, alternatively, Daniel Levy could sign the former Wolfsburg man to ‘please the coach’.

The feeling, according to FcInterNews, is Perišić will continue at Bayern, and Tottenham are considered as a ‘back door’ option, if Flick’s side decide against retaining him.
