As reported earlier on on Monday, Victor Osimhen is currently a doubt for the Champions League fixture against Liverpool.

One of their main players and their key goalscoring threat, the Nigeria international will have been at the heart of Jürgen Klopp’s plans, who will have been trying to work out how to stop him.

Liverpool haven’t started their season how they would have wanted to, struggling to find regular form in the Premier League, which they will want to avoid in the Champions League if they can.

That’s why the game against Napoli is a big deal, and their task will undoubtedly be made easier if the likes of Virgil Van Dijk don’t have to deal with Osimhen.

Despite finishing the weekend game against Lazio, Napoli felt something after the game, and Gazzetta dello Sport explain it’s a muscle strain.

They state striker ‘will try in every way to be on the pitch against Liverpool’, but his presence is ‘currently in doubt’.

While they don’t explicitly put it in the text per se, Gazzetta’s tweet linking to the article claims that Tuesday’s tests will be ‘decisive’ in determining whether or not the player will face the Reds.

That’s something Liverpool will likely have an eye on, as alternatives, such as Giovanni Simeone or Gianluca Raspadori would provide a different threat to Osimhen.
