Last season Fiorentina finished tenth, and the plan was for them to improve on that in the current campaign. Things haven’t gone to plan and they currently find themselves 17th out of 20 teams in Serie A, and there’s only two clubs who have scored less than them this season.
La Viola have found the back of the net 11 times in as many matches, and not one of those goals has come from Patrick Cutrone, who moved back to Italy on an 18 month long loan from Wolves in January of this year.
There’s been a lot of rumours surrounding the Wolves player, and it’s appearing increasingly likely that his days at Fiorentina will soon be over. At the weekend, as the Tuscany club lost 3-0 to Atalanta, Cutrone didn’t even get off the bench.
Gazzetta dello Sport state it as fact that the player ‘will return to Wolves’ in January. Previous reports had suggested a loan or permanent move elsewhere in Italy was on the cards.
Wolves would surely have to agree to such a step, and perhaps this is all related to Raul Jimenez’s injury.
Nuno Espirito Santo may see Cutrone returning as an option, if Wolves fail to find an addition elsewhere.
