After a few rumours here and there, it seems Sporting CP are really considering the possibility of bringing Islam Slimani back to the club.
Sold to Leicester City for €30m in the last summer, the striker couldn’t impress in England as expected and scored only eight goals during the season.
Record has claims today saying Sporting are already studying their chances to re-sign the player, and although there aren’t negotiations opened, they’ve made contacts to be aware of the possibilities.
But it wouldn’t be easy. The only chance would be to get Slimani on a loan deal, and even so, Leicester aren’t much convinced by the idea. The player would only return in ‘special circumstances’, the newspaper says.
Sporting may even have money to convince Leicester to sell Slimani back, but that isn’t something the Portuguese side would do. They’re happy with the profit after buying the striker for only €300k, and wouldn’t risk all that money.
The other option for Sporting mentioned in the story, the former Benfica striker Lima, sounds more likely, even with all the past he has playing for their city rivals.
