Joško Gvardiol will ‘fly to the UK in the next few hours’ to undergo a medical with Manchester City before completing his €100m move to the club.

That’s according to journalist Patrick Berger, who says the Croatian has said ‘goodbye’ to his teammates at RB Leipzig and is now set to travel to the UK to seal his departure.

Manchester City have been chasing Gvardiol all summer, with Pep Guardiola keen to add him to his defence as he plans their defence of the treble next season.

They’ve been locked in negotiations with Leipzig for weeks over a €100m deal but reports this week have indicated an agreement has now been struck and he will be moving to the Etihad.

Berger backs this up, stating the deal is worth €90m plus bonuses to take it to €100m overall, a world record for a centre-back.

That agreement has now been struck and is in place and so Gvardiol is now set to fly to the United Kingdom in the next few hours to undergo his Manchester City medial.

He’s already said goodbye to his teammates at Leipzig and was also left out of the German clubs’ media day today, a further sign that his move to the Etihad is now in the final stages.
