Raúl Jiménez’s contract expires in June and Fulham have an option to extend it for another year.
Marco Silva’s side haven’t activated this clause yet, resulting in claims linking the striker to Club América. The Fulham player climbed through the ranks of their youth system and was with their first team for three years between 2011 and 2014.
The Mexican club have the need to improve their attack, and this and Jiménez’s contract situation at Fulham has fuelled transfer rumours of Club América’s interest.
Record in Mexico have ruled out the 33-year-old’s return in the summer window because of Fulham’s desire to retain him.
They state the Premier League club have already held talks with the former Benfica man over activating the clause to renew his contract until 2026. The report adds the Mexico international welcomes Fulham wanting to extend his stay.
That’s because the frontman is prioritising continuing in the Premier League [or in a top European league] next season to improve his chances of representing his country at the 2026 World Cup.
Jiménez has managed 12 goals and three assists from 38 games for Marco Silva’s side this season.
