Earlier today we covered A Bola’s Tuesday slant on Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United.
Andreas Pereira got the front page, and it was reported he’s one of four United players who Sporting may choose for a loan. He’s also the most interesting, with Marcos Rojo considered to be on high wages, Joel Pereira not needed, and Angel Gomes too inexperienced.
A Bola stated the overall €70m (€60m + €10m in bonuses) figure for a transfer was agreed after just ‘a few hours’ on Friday, and now ‘the lions are slowing down the conclusion of the deal as they continue to examine the various possibilities placed on the table by the English for possible loans’.
There was a suggestion Sporting may be trying to drag the whole thing out so Bruno can play against Benfica on Friday evening.
Now let’s move on to what the other Portuguese newspapers are reporting. Neither O Jogo or Record have the issue on their front page, with the latter saying: ‘Bruno Fernandes on the way to United’
That could either be done via bonuses or a player loan.
Bruno’s presence against Benfica on Friday is ‘gaining more and more strength’, and that’s partly because it’s what Sporting want, and partly because Jorge Mendes has been busy sorting out Gedson Fernandes to Tottenham, and can turn his attention to this transfer tomorrow.
Record then concentrate on who will replace the captain, with several options being considered.
Over at O Jogo they start off by talking about the potential loans. It’s claimed Joel was offered and refused, Gomes is being considered, and Rojo has been discarded because of the costs involved.
Andreas Pereira doesn’t get a mention.
Sporting ‘hope’ Bruno’s transfer can be finalised this week, however, it’s stated ‘everything will be done’ to enable him to play against Benfica on Friday.
This derby is proving to be a problem.
