Cenk Tosun still wants to leave Everton but is demanding €1m to leave Goodison Park before the end of his contract.
That’s according to Sabah, who say the striker’s contract demands have been made clear to Besiktas as they still chase his signature.
Tosun is out of contract at Goodison Park in the summer, and there is no indication the club will be offering him a new deal to extend his stay.
He’s a player who remains on the periphery of the squad, with injuries meaning he’s never replicated the form he showed at Besiktas earlier in his career.
They’ve been keen to bring him back to the club for a third spell for months, and it was believed something would be worked out in the January transfer window, but that didn’t come to pass.
They say that the Everton striker has made it clear he ‘would consider’ offers to return to Europe if he is to leave the Blues.
He reportedly told Besiktas that he wanted ‘to leave’ Everton, but his ‘priority’ was to stay in Europe if he could. The finances, though, put Besiktas out of the picture.
According to the report, Tosun currently earns €3m per year at Goodison Park and has demanded €1m to end his contract at Everton early.
That is seemingly something the Blues aren’t willing to pay, even if it will save them €500,000 between now and the end of the season.
Tosun, meanwhile, is asking for a 2.5-year contract on €2.5m per year from Besiktas if he is to return there. They ‘did not enter into a contract’ with him because of that.
A move could still happen, though, as the striker wants to return to the national team and to do so will need to ‘play regularly and keep fit’, something that might not be on offer at Everton.
