Atlético-MG are reportedly the latest club to join the race for Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva. The Brazilian midfielder is seeing his contract expire at the end of the season and has been the subject of many transfer rumours lately.
According to Rário 98FM (via UOL), Atlético-MG want a ‘top midfielder’ for the season and made an approach to know the possibilities of finding a deal.
But Lucas Leiva’s desire is to stay in Europe for now, so he asked the Brazilian club for a few days to give them an answer. Meanwhile, he’ll be hearing offers from other sides.
The player’s response is one more sign that he could be leaving Liverpool in January. Even though he has six more months of contract, an early exit would help him find some minutes and a greater importance.
As often reported by the Italian media, the Brazilian website says Inter Milan are the club leading the battle for the midfielder.
