Despite there being a lot of confidence in Italy that AC Milan will win the race to sign Jean-Clair Todibo, Mundo Deportivo insist no decision has been made yet.

Several clubs have been keen on the Barcelona defender, and that includes Watford, Everton and Southampton from the Premier League.

Watford have been linked for some weeks, and Everton have appeared in several of the stories, as Southampton pop up now again as a reportedly interested party.

Mundo Deportivo reports Southampton remain among the group of clubs trying to sign Tobido.

On Friday, the player and his agent met an AC Milan director in Barcelona, as the Serie A side wanted to make it clear they’re very serious about getting a deal done.

Tobido has asked for a ‘few more days’ before deciding what his next step will be.

Milan want a loan with a summer purchase option, however, the player isn’t so keen on that. He believes that spending the rest of the season elsewhere will give him the opportunity to prove to Barcelona he’s ready to play for them.

Should Southampton genuinely be serious then perhaps they should offer a straight loan, which could be more attractive to both the defender and his club.
