Diego Costa keeps being chased by Atletico Madrid. Spanish newspaper El Confidencial today has a very interesting story on the club’s attacking targets for the summer, and the Chelsea player is still one of their favourite names.
Their article says that for a while Costa has been thinking of wearing Atletico’s shirt again. However, his departure from Chelsea is not so simple as Antonio Conte isn’t willing to let him go.
The only condition that would ease his exit would be if Chelsea sign another striker. Even after buying Michy Batshuayi, another option would be needed for Costa to be considered transferable.
El Confidencial mentions Álvaro Morata’s name as the most possible replacement, but his future with Real Madrid is still far from being clear. The player is expected to make the pre-season with the club and then have his future decided.
In the end, a simple sale from their rivals would be all Atletico needed to be happy. The player’s will to return to Madrid has been reported in the Spanish media for quite some time, but Chelsea don’t seem to be very generous about that.
For now, Costa is on stand-by, say El Confidencial.
