Even though it’s CSKA Moscow who seem to be leading the race for João Palhinha, Wolverhampton Wanderers are back being named as strong competitors for the midfielder today.

There are two Portuguese newspapers who say the Sporting midfielder is ‘waiting’ for offers from England instead of thinking of the Russian side.

Jornal de Notícias brings a short story about it. They say even though Palhinha has offers from CKSA and Al Nassr, he’s willing to hold out for Wolves, who are still to make an official bid for him.

Meanwhile, Record has a longer article in which they say the player is willing to wait and even ‘lose money’ just so he can move to the Premier League.

Record writes that there are a few English club who are interested in the signing, with Wolves among them.

Palhinha is prioritising the sporting aspect rather than finances, and will wait as long as he can so an offer from England can arrive.

Sporting are not worried about who’s buying him, as long as the club makes €15m from the sale. CSKA and Al Nassr only got to €12m so far, so it wouldn’t be hard for Wolves to outbid them.
