It’s unlikely that Peruvian winger Andre Carrillo will stay at Benfica for the 2017/18 season.

Despite being completely fit, as reported by the Portuguese press today, the Carillo hasn’t been called for the match-day squads and should be heading to a new destination soon.

And the club who comes to mind for the Portuguese press is always Watford. A Bola, O Jogo and Record all have stories about the player today, and all of them link him to the Hornets once again.

Record claim the player is waiting for Benfica and Watford to find a deal so he can finally move. They say the negotiations are happening, but an agreement is still to be found.

The Lisbon side would be demanding €2m for a loan deal, and Watford would have an option to buy him permanently at the end of the season.

Carrillo waits for the decision while he trains normally at the club, but knows he’s not in the manager’s plans.

As the Portuguese newspapers don’t report any new competition, it seems Watford are alone in the race, and as Benfica are keen to get rid of his wages, that’s a deal we definitely can see happening.
