William Carvalho’s transfer to West Ham United continues being surrounded by positivity in Portugal. Two of the major sports newspapers bring good news today, saying the deal is getting close.
As reported by Record, the midfielder did not play against Vitória de Setúbal last night, and is only waiting for the ‘OK’ so he can travel and sign for the London side.
The newspaper claims there have been developments in the past few hours and the transfer is imminent, with the player signing a five year contract for the Hammers.
O Jogo also has a story on the subject today, claiming that one of West Ham’s officials will stay in Lisbon until the middle of the next week.
Sporting want to close the deal after they play Steaua Bucharest for the Champions League qualifiers, so the Hammers will have to wait a bit.
Still, O Jogo claims that the parties are getting close to a deal, with representatives from both clubs keeping in constant touch.
West Ham’s offer is said to be €30m to be paid over two years, with 5% of a future transfer going to Sporting, plus performance bonuses. But the Portuguese side want €40m.
