Watford are ‘looking’ at OGC fullback Hassane Kamara, according to Foot Mercato.
The Premier League side and the French club were both battling to secure the services of the 27-year-old in the summer of 2020, when he was at Stade de Reims. Nice were successful in getting ahead of the Hornets in signing the Ivory Coast international for a fee of €4m.
He featured regularly in his debut season at the club, making 34 starts in the league. This term, the left-back has 11 league appearances, which includes seven starts. Things have not gone well for the player in recent weeks.
Kamara has featured only twice since the end of October and despite hardly being used by manager Christophe Galtier, the website states he is of interest to other clubs. When discussing potential candidates, Claudio Ranieri’s side are mentioned.
It’s claimed the defender, who can also operate as a left wing-back, is ‘very popular with Watford’, a club that had already looked at him last year. The report further explains ‘discussions have even already started’ between the two parties.
Kamara’s contract with Nice runs down in 2024.
