Over the past few days, there’s been multiple reports from Spain stating Real Sociedad are keen on signing Manchester City’s Sergio Gómez.
Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay and sporting director Roberto Olabe have made a trip to England to hold talks with the Citizens.
On Wednesday, AS said the La Liga side are optimistic of getting the deal over the line. Later that day, El Diario Vasco reported that the Manchester City player is ready to move in the summer window.
La Real have made progress in their pursuit of the left-back, according to a fresh report from Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
It’s claimed Aperribay and Olabe’s trip to England has been productive as their discussions with Manchester City have ‘gone really well’.
Sources close to the negotiations have informed Noticias de Gipuzkoa that ‘there will soon be white smoke’ to bring the Spaniard to Real Sociedad. They even joke that the press release is being prepared to conclude the operation.
Even though Real Sociedad are ‘very close’ to bringing Gómez to the club, the report says it could take a long time to sort out the final details of the deal. The only explanation given for this is that the Spanish club aren’t in a rush.
Noticias de Gipuzkoa aren’t confirming whether it’ll be a loan or a permanent transfer, but they do state that Real Sociedad are confident of having Gómez at least for next season.
Earlier claims said Real Sociedad can’t afford to buy Gómez and they will sign him on loan with a purchase option.
