Leicester City star Youri Tielemans has been urged to ‘wait and see’ before making a summer move to Manchester United.
The Belgian midfielder could be on the move this summer, with several big clubs in Europe thought to be keen on him.
He’s established himself as a star since joining Leicester on a permanent basis in July 2019, finally realising his potential and becoming the player that many predicted he would be when he emerged at Anderlecht in his homeland.
At 24-years-old there is a growing belief he is ready to make the next step in his career, and Manchester United are one of the clubs thought to be keen.
They’ve been long-time admirers and are likely to be on the lookout for a replacement for Paul Pogba, who looks set to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.
Tielemans would more than fit the bill and still has development left in the tank, but Belgian legend Philippe Albert says he might want to think twice about leaving Leicester.
“Last year, Youri had a much better season than now. And then, strangely enough, no one moved too much to buy out his contract,” he wrote for Le Soir.
“This time, he has a big downturn, as we saw again in Ireland and against Burkina Faso, but Arsenal and Manchester United are suddenly out of the woodwork.
“A nice compliment, of course, but I wonder if, in the context of a summer market that will resemble the winter one, with only three months to go before the World Cup, a transfer to a prestigious club would be appropriate.
“In any case, it would be a maximum risk in a context where, as I have just written, the Vanaken threat could become clearer in the national team. Wait and see as the English say.”
