Inter Milan have formally agreed a deal with Liverpool to sign Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 29-year-old will sign for the Serie A giants on a loan deal with the option to make it permanent, and is expected to be available for their trip to Udinese on January 8.
Gazzetta say Lucas is expected to undergo medical examinations in the next few hours, after which a deal could be made official.
The Brazilian is currently playing his 10th season at Anfield, but is no longer a first choice option under Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp has been using Lucas as a makeshift centre back, and the player has started only three league games this season.
A move to Inter could be an ideal opportunity for Lucas to revive his career, with the Serie A giants being long term admirers of the Liverpool midfielder.
With Joe Gomez returning from his long term injury, and Ragnar Klavan now settling in quite well at the club, Liverpool apparently have no intention to block another transfer move for Lucas.
