Arsenal and Liverpool have both made offers to Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio to try and convince him to move to the Premier League.
That’s according to journalist Eduardo Inda, who says the Gunners and the Reds have bettered the terms offered by Real Madrid as part of their efforts to get Asensio to sign a new deal.
Asensio is currently in the final year of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning the Spanish giants need to convince him to sign a new deal as soon as possible.
That is to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2023, when the midfielder would be free to negotiate a free transfer with clubs around Europe.
He will likely have plenty of suitors, too, having been one of the star players at Madrid for several years and won everything with the club.
Arsenal and Liverpool are two clubs to have been linked on numerous occasions in the past, with Jurgen Klopp in particular thought to be a big fan of his.
And Inda insists that remains the case, stating that both the Reds and Mikel Arteta’s side have already presented contract proposals to the player.
“Asensio has two offers from the UK, and his contract expires in 2023,” Super Deporte report him saying.
“If Real Madrid don’t renew him, he will leave for free in 2023. He has an offer from Arsenal and Liverpool.
“Madrid have offered him the same, 4.5 million, and would renew him for four years and give him an incentive of 1.5 million in variables.
“He has told the club that the English are offering him 50% more than what Madrid are offering him. Madrid will not reach that figure because we would be talking about 7 million.”
