Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional brings today a story about the Manchester City loanee Yangel Herrera, who spent 2018 on loan at New York City FC.

Labelled by David Villa ‘the best player in MLS’, the 20-year-old had an important part in the club’s campaign this season, starting most of the games, despite a problem with his ankle which left him out for a while.

Now El Nacional claims that the player hopes to start 2019 playing for Pep Guardiola, as his contract with New York City is expiring on the last day of the year.

The newspaper says that Herrera has been ‘attracting Pep Guardiola’s attention’, as he was in a process of observation during this spell, and he now wants to ‘captivate’ the manager.

It all sounds a bit like a dream for the midfielder, as El Nacional mentions that he ‘took pictures with all Manchester City players’ and those kind of things.

But now it should be up to Guardiola to decide if Herrera joins Manchester City’s squad or is loaned out once again.

Given his age, there’s still a lot of time to develop.
