Manchester United are edging closer towards completing a deal for Cerro Porteño young star Diego León.

Journalist Bruno Pont, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide the latest on this case.

On December 13th, another journalist, César Luis Merlo, reported Manchester United have agreed a deal with Cerro Porteño to buy the left-back for $4m plus bonuses, while other sources have reported different figures.

Five days later, Cerro Porteño president Juan José Zapag said León’s move to Manchester United will be made official soon.

On Christmas Eve, the 17-year-old’s brother, Hernán León, revealed his family are thrilled with the Red Devils’ interest in Diego.

Pont has been speaking to the Paraguayan’s agent, Renato Bittar, and he ‘confirms’ to the journalist that his client will be travelling to Manchester to undergo medical tests with the Premier League side in the coming days. It’s to be noted the representative’s comments aren’t relayed word-by-word by the journalist.

Diego León won’t be able to represent Ruben Amorim’s side until he turns 18 years of age in April.
