Both Catalan sport newspapers reported on Saturday that Lucas Digne is very close to signing for Everton.

The French fullback has been linked with the Toffees for weeks and Barcelona are keen to see the back of him as long as they get a reasonable fee.

In the media closest to Barcelona it’s been reported repeatedly that given given Barca paid PSG €16m plus a few more in bonuses, which quite possibly won’t have been activated, they wanted to get as much of that back as possible.

For a while, Everton, according to the Catalan claims, have failed to get close enough to that figure but now it seems they’re going over it.

Sunday’s edition of L’Equipe states Digne is ‘about to be transferred’ to Everton, and they say he’ll be moving for €20m plus a bonus which is worth €4-5m. His Barcelona ‘adventure is coming to an end’ and Goodison Park is the destination.

The fee looks a little on the high side so either Everton aren’t exactly being ruthless in negotiations this summer, or it’s being inflated by some in the media.
