Jozabed wasn’t supposed to return to Fulham at the end of his summer holidays.

A permanent return to Spanish football was on the cards, especially after a reasonably good loan move to Celta Vigo from the January window onwards. Celta were so impressed that they’ve been trying to sign him permanently, but so far haven’t managed to close a deal.

Marca reported a week ago that the two clubs were €500k apart, with Fulham asking for €4m and Celta Vigo offering €3.5m. There was optimism a deal was very close to being completed.

However, Jozabed has been training with Fulham this week, which wasn’t part of Celta’s original plan, and Marca say the final price of a transfer hasn’t moved from €3.5m.

The Spanish club’s director of football Felipe Miñambres is tasked with finding the happy middle ground.

Fulham shouldn’t fold completely, even if it’s just a case of finding a ‘win’ on payment terms.
