Marco Asensio is tempted by the prospect of joining Liverpool this summer, reports Catalan newspaper Sport.
Jurgen Klopp has been ‘dreaming’ of signing the Real Madrid player for some time and has now managed to convince those in charge at Liverpool to make a move for the Spanish international, according to the claims.
The Liverpool manager is said to have pushed for an attempt last summer, but this time around is taking things ‘very seriously’, and Sport believe the circumstances currently suit.
Asensio is said to be worried about continually being viewed as a ‘promise’ at Madrid and is concerned that next season won’t be much different from the last one.
The 22 year old wants more prominence and to be considered a star player, and Sport say Liverpool would make him their ‘franchise’ player.
A bid of €180m is referenced once again, and the newspaper states Asensio has a ‘spectacular’ offer to join Liverpool. He’d be one of the highest paid players at the Premier League club.
This still all feels like a play from people close to Asensio to help up his status at Real Madrid.
Liverpool’s best chance probably comes if that backfires, or Madrid move to sign Neymar, Eden Hazard or another star and Asensio feels that will limit him further.
