Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is ‘taking big strides’ towards a return to Villarreal from Tottenham.
That’s according to journalist Alessio Lento, who says the option of a move to Fiorentina ‘is fading’ into the background.
The midfielder has returned to Tottenham after a successful loan spell with Villarreal last season, during which he established himself as a key player in their run to the Champions League semi-finals.
The Spanish side have been keen to bring him back since but the finances weren’t in place and he’s remained with Tottenham trying to find a new club.

Fiorentina had been mooted as an option but Lento says that ‘track is fading’ and instead a return to Villarreal is ‘very close’.
According to his information, Unai Emery’s side are negotiating a loan deal with Tottenham once again, although the formula is ‘still being discussed’ between the two clubs.
Either way, the midfielder is taking ‘big strides’ towards a return to Spain after his spell with the La Liga side last season.
