There appears to be some conflicting information in Italy about Manchester City’s stance when it comes to Kalidou Koulibaly.

Earlier on Wednesday, we covered a story from Corriere dello Sport stating very clearly that as things stood, Pep Guardiola’s side had made their ‘last proposal’ for the defender, which had been turned away by Napoli.

The bottom line of the article was that if the Serie A side ‘didn’t lower their demands, Manchester City will go no further’.

Well, La Repubblica see it differently, believing that Manchester City ‘will reach’ an offer that surpasses the €60m + easily attainable bonuses Corriere dello Sport were reporting.

This new bid is said to be of €65m + €5m in easily attainable bonuses (so in essence €70m) and then another €5m depending on team results, which they say would be triggered if the Premier League club won the Champions League.

Napoli ‘awaits’ this offer, ‘evaluating’ it but it’s said they will ‘not accept downward games’ from Manchester City.

Then it ‘will be Koulibaly’s turn’, who ‘dreams of an experience in the Premier League’ and ‘doing so with Guardiola intrigues him a lot’.

They even go as far as saying he has his ‘suitcases ready’ in the headline.

So, €70m + €5m is where Manchester City are at if La Repubblica are to be believed, and with claims Aurelio De Laurentiis wants €80m, we’re not that far off.
