Anger is building at AC Milan over Emerson Royal’s move to the club from Tottenham this summer, with the defender ‘struggling terribly’ so far.
Milan Live cover the player today and how he’s failed to win over any admirers since joining from Tottenham in the summer transfer window.
They explain that Milan’s decision to let Pierre Kalulu leave on loan to Juventus is proving to be ‘one of the worst operations’ in the history of the club and part of that is because his replacement, Emerson Royal, is impressing nobody.
He was ‘widely expected’ to find life at Milan difficult and that has proven to be the case, with him currently ‘struggling terribly’.
The Brazilian will be handed the season to try and convince everyone but there’s little evidence so far, he will do so and anger is growing that he was brought in and Kalulu was allowed to leave.
Going back is impossible as Juventus will likely buy him outright using a clause in their loan deal, something that will only cause further anger in Milan.
Indeed, Emerson Royal has struggled so much since arriving from Tottenham that there’s every chance the Italian side will re-enter the market in January, or at least next summer, for an alternative.
The focus is currently on Lille’s Tiago Santos, who would have cost €12-14m tis summer but will now cost double and potentially more on top of that. His recent performance against Real Madrid has certainly added to his price tag.
And that’s bad news for Milan, who ‘got everything wrong’ this summer when they let Kalulu go and brought in Emerson Royal to replace him.
