Yan Couto didn’t make an appearance for Manchester City after joining them Coritiba in 2020.
The English club sent him out on loan to Girona and SC Braga before sanctioning another loan move to Borussia Dortmund last summer. BVB have an obligation to buy if certain set conditions are fulfilled.
Bild state the purchase obligation is €25m and mention this when covering his situation since leaving Manchester City.
Dortmund sacked Nuri Şahin and appointed Niko Kovač as their new manager on January 29th. The report states the Manchester City owned player is one of the two ‘victims’ of the Croatian.
The right-back has played 767 minutes from 21 games this season, of which only one of them was under Kovač.
Couto’s arrival was celebrated as a ‘real transfer coup’ last summer, but his performances have been ‘below expectations’. Bild insist the 22-year-old needs more time to adapt to the Bundesliga.
Julian Ryerson and Niklas Süle are currently ahead of the Brazilian in the pecking order. Therefore, the report states his situation at the German club won’t improve soon.
In order words, Couto’s struggles will continue since leaving Manchester City again on loan last summer.
