Barcelona have warned Raphinha about his future at the club as he continues to struggle and show the player he was at Leeds United.
That’s according to Sport, who say the club has ‘spoke to his agent’ and expect more from him moving forwards.
The Brazilian joined the Catalans in the summer transfer window after several impressive seasons at Leeds, culminating in his superb performances at the end of last season that kept them in the Premier League.
They led to his move to Barcelona in the summer but he has struggled to establish himself at the Camp Nou, failing to live up to his price tag and falling behind Ousmane Dembele in the pecking order.
Barcelona have been steadily getting more disappointed in him and it seems that has now led to a meeting with the player’s agent.
Sport report that Barca’s top officials met with Deco this week to discuss the Brazilian market and also Raphinha’s ‘present and future’ at the club.
They are not ‘fully satisfied’ with the winger’s performances, although they have accepted that he needs a period of adaptation before he can perform as he did at Elland Road.
Despite that the reality is that Raphinha has not been the player he was at Leeds or the player Barcelona expected given the money invested in him. The player wants to stay and prove the doubters wrong but Deco is clear there will be offers in the summer from the Premier League.
At the moment they are likely to be ignored by Barcelona as they don’t doubt his ‘immense quality’ but the numbers are clearly not good enough and they expect more from him.
If that doesn’t happen in the second half of the season, they will be open to a sale in the summer, particularly as they need to secure a major transfer for their own business.
