Estadio Deportivo are convinced Jesus Navas only wants to join Sevilla when his Manchester City contract expires in the summer. Navas is from the Sevilla area and came through the ranks there before joining Manchester City in 2013.
The claims in Seville have been pretty strong, with it even being stated Navas has enrolled his children in a Seville school for the next academic year. But the player’s wish will mean little if Sevilla don’t make a move.
Estadio Deportivo say that despite interest from AS Roma and Galatasaray, Navas is still awaiting contact from Sevilla, because that’s his one and only plan. Various reasons have been given for Sevilla not making a move before now, including the uncertainty over Monchi.
However, Monchi has been repeatedly praised for helping Sevilla buildup a system so his exit won’t see things stall, and it’s curious why Navas hasn’t been approached already. There’s every chance the Spanish club are holding out on the Manchester City player so they when they do start talks, Navas isn’t in as strong a position to demand high wages.
