Something very special happened at the weekend, Sandro Ramirez scored.
That’s now two goals in just over a month for the Everton owned striker, who is currently on loan at Real Valladolid. Such a return may not sound impressive, but given his previous extended goal drought it’s a real step forward, and his performance, after coming on a substitute against Espanyol at the weekend, has been widely praised.
Sandro’s loan club won the match 2-1, and he scored the first goal. Real Valladolid manager Sergio Gonzalez, who has previously played for and managed Espanyol, spoke afterwards, and was asked about Sandro’s crucial contribution.
Sport quote him as saying the player has been “starving for minutes and goals”, so was able to satisfy a little of his hunger.
Sandro is still only 24 years of age, and a few more goals between now and the end of the season would surely increase La Liga interest in a permanent transfer. His attitude has repeatedly been praised at previous loan clubs, but end product has prevented Everton from being able to get a transfer fee.
Add goals to attitude and a feeling there’s untapped potential, and the Premier League club have a good chance of getting money in the summer, a year before the player’s Everton contract expires.
