If you were following our coverage of Arsenal news on Wednesday, you will have seen that we tried to clarify the situation regarding the reported interest in Ianis Stoica.
Multiple outlets in England had misquoted FCSB’s owner Gigi Becali, who had made it clear he wasn’t aware of any monitoring from the Gunners, and we then covered an interview with the club’s sporting director, MM Stoica, who revealed he had received no approach from Mikel Arteta’s side.
That means that if Arsenal are interested in the young forward, they are keeping their cards close to their chest for the time being.
Over on the player’s side, it appears Stoica isn’t entirely happy with his level of representation, as GSP in Romania are reporting the youngster has started the process of switching agents.
It’s said he wants to leave Anamaria Prodan and hire Ioan Becali, Gigi Becali’s cousin, and he ‘has already sent a notification to the agent for the termination of the representation contract’.
Prodan hasn’t taken that kindly, and it’s said she now ‘threatens him with a lawsuit’.
As for Ioan Becali, he was behind Dennis Man’s transfer to Parma and that of Olimpiu Morutan to Galatasaray, showing he can open doors for Romanian players beyond their own borders.
Potential good news for Arsenal, who might find it easier to negotiate with the club owner’s cousin when the time comes for a transfer away from FCSB.
