Charly Musonda’s return to Chelsea has been ‘done’ many times and yet it’s not actually done yet.

There’s little to stop Chelsea announcing the player’s loan year at Real Betis has been cut short, but they haven’t put the information out.

That could be due to disagreement with Real Betis over any fees. The Spanish club agreed a loan with Chelsea, agreed to pay for it on Chelsea’s terms, and then Musonda seemed to decide he wanted out.

There was a repeated issue with a ‘knee injury’ which saw Musonda return to Chelsea to be treated by their medical staff, but even that caused some doubt.

It’s understandable if Betis want every penny back, and that could be the subject of negotiations.

Still, Spanish newspaper Marca carry a picture of Musonda at Stamford Bridge yesterday, sitting next to Diego Costa, and take that as confirmation that he’s switching back to Chelsea.
