Former Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar has spoken about his joy at signing for Benfica from the West London club. The Brazilian had an unforgettable spell in England with QPR.
Speaking to TMW, Cesar was asked about his feelings when he swapped London for Lisbon. The Brazilian said it was great to sign for a club like Benfica, and to live in such a city. Cesar confirmed he wants to remain with the Portuguese giants as long as possible, and he hopes to extend his contract with the club.
“Absolutely. I’m great at Benfica, we speak of a great club. I am also treated well in Lisbon, a beautiful city. As I said, I want to stay even after the expiration of my contract, on 30 June 2018. I hope to renew at least for another season,” said the former QPR player.
Cesar signed for QPR in 2012 from Inter Milan, and came to England with a good reputation following his exploits with the Serie A side and also the Brazil national team.
However, 37-year-old made just 24 appearances in the Premier League, and in his second season with the club he was loaned out to MLS side Toronto. Cesar eventually exited QPR in 2014 to join his current club Benfica.
