Aurelien Tchouameni is set to reject a move to Liverpool in favour of joining Real Madrid this summer.

That’s according to RMC Sport, who say the highly rated midfielder will join the Spanish giants in an €80m plus bonuses deal on a five-year contract.

Tchouameni has been heavily linked with a move away from Monaco this summer after a series of impressive performances for the principality club this season.

Real Madrid are known to be big fans but so are Liverpool, who are keen to keep building this year regardless of what happens in the Champions League final.

Tchouameni would fit the bill perfectly, and a report earlier today stated that they had made the 22-year-old an ‘interesting offer’ to try and beat the competition to his signature.

It seems their efforts have fallen by the wayside, though, with RMC reporting that he will be moving to the Bernabeu in an €80m plus deal.

This is backed up by journalist Julien Maynard, who also says that Tchouameni has ‘chosen’ Real Madrid and announced his departure to his Monaco teammates.

That will come as a major blow to Liverpool, whose hopes of signing the midfielder now seem to be over.
