PSV Eindhoven defender Olivier Boscagli has sent a small snipe towards a section of the home fans who left during the 7-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Soccer News provide comments from the defender today in which he criticises those who decided to leave before the final whistle in their humbling defeat in the Champions League.

Arsenal dispatched the Dutch side with ease on Tuesday evening, with goals from Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Leandro Trossard, Riccardo Calafiori and a double from Martin Odegaard sealing the impressive result.

It was the first time in Champions League history that any away side has scored seven goals in a knockout tie and the most goals Arsenal have scored in a single game since beating Newcastle 7-3 in the Premier League 13-years-ago.

Mikel Arteta’s side could not have wished for a more comfortable evening as they blew away the disappointment that had been surrounding them for weeks and put themselves firmly into the quarterfinals of the competition.

On the flip side it was a miserable evening for PSV, who find themselves in the middle of a sticky patch of form and on the wrong end of a Champions League record.

The majority of their supporters decided not to stay to the end, heading for the exits rather than watch the humiliation unfold, something that Boscagli was not impressed with.

“We realise that, but it will take more time to really realise it,” he said about the ‘historic’ numbers involved.

“It is fresh, just after the match. Such a big disappointment for the club, players and supporters. It is clear that this was a size too big. If you let such players play so freely, it is too easy. It is difficult to concede seven goals, but that is the reality of the Champions League.

“These are difficult times for the club and for the fans. I understand that. We were definitely supported tonight. The real supporters stay until the end. It is important for us that the entire club supports us. It remains a difficult situation, but we will solve it together.”
