Daniel Alves isn’t the most loved man in Italy right now. The fact he’s breaking his contract with Juventus only one year after joining the club is obviously not being taken well by the local press, and Tuttosport isn’t taking it easy on him today.

The newspaper reports the player’s representatives have spoke to the club and agreed his departure yesterday, and should be made official today. It’s stated that he’s joining Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, where he will earn basically the same salary as at Juventus, something around €6m per season.

According to the story, the message at the Italian club is pretty clear: if you want to stay, you stay. If you don’t, the door is open. That’s why the departure was not hard to negotiate.

But it doesn’t mean Alves is leaving the club on good terms, especially because of his recent attitude. People are unhappy with his recent quotes regarding his friend Paolo Dybala, when he said the Argentine could grow as a footballer somewhere else. Alves also made fans angry this week by posting a picture of his boots used in the 2015 Champions League final, which is a good memory for him, but not for the Italian club.

Tuttosport recalls that despite the several months injured and not playing at his top level, Alves was capable of turning things around, something which will have caught Manchester City’s attention.

But although his technique is not questionable, for Tuttosport his character is. That’s why they say he’s not the man to lead a team like Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez have done in the past. The newspaper even uses quotes from Diego Maradona to criticise the player, recalling when the Argentine called Alves an idiot.

Less than an year after celebrating the signing, Juventus already want to forget that the Brazilian has ever played for the club. Manchester City, and Guardiola, probably won’t care if it means they get their man.
